This new book discussion group focuses on non-fiction and historical fiction books. This book group is sponsored by the Mt. Lebanon Lions Club; you do not have to be a Lions Club member to join.
JUST FOR KIDS
Stuffed Animal Sleepover 9 a. m.-4:30 p. m., Friday, June 24
Children can drop off their stuffed animals anytime today for the stuffed animal
sleepover. 10 a. m., Saturday, June 25
Come for breakfast treats this morning, reunite with your stuffed animal, participate in a super fun storytime, and see a slideshow of the stuffed animal sleepover.
Silents Please! 6:30 p. m., Monday-Wednesday, June 27-29
Mt. Lebanon Library’ s first-ever Artist in Residency workshop for kids features Tom Roberts, composer and curator of Silents Please( a silent film series at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont). Tom will direct kids in the creation of their own silent short film. Kids will discover the genius of Charlie Chaplin, learn to tell a story without speaking, and talk about how music shapes movies. This workshop lasts three days, June 27, 28 and 29, and is for kids going into 4th through 6th grades. Participants must pre-register starting June 6th and be able to attend all three sessions. On June 30, Tom returns to the library to host an all-ages silent movie night where he will play his own scores to three Charlie Chaplin films.

Avoid the math-fact slide. New, exciting math games each week including 24 Math, Ken-Ken, Buzz, Shut-the-Box, and more. Kids will use mental math, problem‐solving skills, and math facts to play team games. For kids entering grades 5 and 6. Participants must pre-register starting June 6 and be able to attend the first session.
Thank You Piggie & Elephant! 1:30 p. m., Thursday, July 7
A celebration of Piggie and Elephant and the final book in the series. Read, dance, draw, write, throw balls, party, and play at Piggie and Gerald stations throughout the library. For ages 3 and up and family.
Introduction to 3D Printing 10 a. m., Monday, July 11
Learn the basics of 3D printing and take home a 3D printed sample. For children ages 9-13. Participants must register with the Children’ s Library starting Monday, June 27.
Spanish Fiestas! 1:30 p. m., Mondays, July 11, 18, 25
Songs, dances, games, stories, and more— all in Spanish! For kids entering grades 1-3.
Dino Detectives Friday, July 15 1 p. m., kids going into 1st-3rd grade 3 p. m., kids going into 4th-6th grade Think like a paleontologist! Paleoartists use fossil evidence, observation, and imagination to deduce what ancient animals might have looked like. In this hands-on workshop kids reconstruct modern animals based on limited evidence and test their dino-detective skills. No pre-registration.
Beginner Game Design 10 a. m., Monday and Tuesday, July 18 and 19
Middle and high school students who are interested in making games can learn the basics of Unity3D, a free professional-grade game engine. Class will center on how to use the editor, some basic C # scripting, game engine concepts, and assembling a simple playable demo. Get started on the path towards making your own game. Registration is required and attendees must attend both sessions. Registration begins Tuesday, June 27, in the Children’ s Library.
Molecular Cooking 1 p. m., Wednesday, July 20
Cooking may be an art, but it is also a science. This workshop uses hands-on activities, demonstrations, and fun food experiments to explore molecular interactions and transformations. For kids entering 4th-6th grade. Please let us know if your child has any food allergies. Participants must pre-register starting June 27.
Touch-a-Truck 1 p. m., Sunday, July 31
Visit the library’ s parking lot today to see many different kinds of trucks up close, including emergency vehicles. For truck lovers of all ages.
Family Game Night 6 p. m., Mondays in August
Play classic games and try new ones. Be prepared to use your powers of logic and imagination. For kids entering 1st grade and up with their families.
