SYNTHESIZERS, SAMPLES AND
SOUNDTRACKS

Learn how to make an instrument
out of anything. Explore the science
of sound using magnetic circuitry to
design and build your own unique
musical instruments. Then learn how to
record your instruments, make sound
effects, and remixes. This is a three-day
workshop with Pittsburgh Filmmakers/
Pittsburgh Center of the Arts. For kids
in 3rd – 5th grades. Registration begins
Oct. 9. This program is a part of our
Matt’s Maker Space Year of Making
and was generously funded by Matt’s
Maker Space.

MONSTER MASH

This Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh
Center for the Arts program invites
kids ages 5-7 to invent monstrous,
fantastical, or just silly creations
through sculptural forms and to be
inspired by books and their own
imagination as they bring their
creatures to life. This program is a part
of the library’s Matt’s Maker Space Year
of Making. Space is limited; register
starting Sept. 22.
FAMILY SING-ALONG
11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 23
Join music teacher Margaret Hooton
and her brother Bob Barnett for the
library’s annual fun and interactive day-
after-Thanksgiving sing-along. Musical
fun for the whole family.
FRIGHT NIGHT!
6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26
BE PREPARED TO BE SCARED!!
Mt. Lebanon Library’s annual Fright
Night is a celebration of all things
spooky. Costumes are optional, but
highly recommended. Thrills and chills
for the entire family, free refreshments
at Franken’s Diner, activities, crafts, and
tons of fun. Please note that the library
will be open to check out books, but
there will be no computer access.
HOLIDAY FOR THE BIRDS
10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1
Preschoolers (ages 3 to 6) are invited
to stop by the library and make a
biodegradable bird feeder for their
yard, listen to stories, and learn about
local birds and wild animals with
naturalist Verna McGinley. Presented by
the Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy.

INTRO TO CODING AND APP DESIGN
3:30 p.m., Mondays, Dec. 3, 10;
Wednesdays, Dec. 5, 12
Kids in grades 6th through 8th can
explore the logic of coding by building
a game using Scratch, then practice
scripting in the Terminal using
Javascript, one of the most popular
computer programming languages
used today. This is a four-day
Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh
Center of the Arts program. Registrants
must be able to attend all four sessions.
Registration begins on Nov. 5. This
