This group performs for senior living facilities in the South Hills area. So what is Readers’ Theater? Well, the difference between theater and Readers’ Theater is that there is no stage setting— the“ actors” read from scripts( so there is no memorizing of lines). However, it is not merely reading: the actors do act and interact with each other, bringing scenes to life for the enjoyment of the audience. The group is always seeking new members so drop by a general meeting to learn more.

WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA’ S FRONTIER WARS, REBELLIONS AND CONFLICTS: 1758-1794— A
GEOGRAPHIC VIEW 10 a. m., Mondays, Nov. 12, Dec. 10
The focus is on the frontier conflicts over a 36-year period in the Ohio River Valley of Western PA: from the military occupation of the Forks in 1758 to the Whiskey Rebellion and defeat of Indian tribes in Ohio in 1794. Sessions include lecture, discussion, and videos. Each session is topic oriented— you may join at any time without being concerned you have missed earlier sessions. Presenter Rodger Duffy has a master’ s degree in Historical Geography from Northwestern University. He taught at DePaul University in Chicago and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Oct. 15: Nationally recognized genealogy lecturer Elissa Scalise Powell will discuss“ Deeper Analysis: Techniques for Successful Problem Solving,” which explores the use of spreadsheets, timelines, maps, charts, and more.
Nov. 19: A screening of“ Finding Elusive Records on FamilySearch.” The records you can find by performing basic searches represent only a small portion of what’ s available. In fact, 77 percent of the free historical records on FamilySearch. org can’ t be found by searching. This video will walk you step-by-step through the process of locating those elusive records.
