APPRECIATING OUR NATURAL WORLD
Hollow Oak Land Trust presented a “ Learn about Locals ” program in September at the Montour Woods Pavilion . It was designed for all ages , to inspire learning and the appreciation of the wonders of our natural surroundings .
The program provided a unique learning experience for exploring the wildlife , flora and fauna of our greenspace home through guided nature walks and interactive demonstrations .

THANKSGIVING DAY DINNER !
Coraopolis United Methodist Church will holds it 11th Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thursday , Nov . 23 . This year ’ s dinner will offer dine-in only seating from 2 to 4 p . m . It will be served in the church ’ s renovated dining hall , located at 1205 Ridge Avenue , in Coraopolis . Reservations are required .
The menu includes turkey , homemade mashed potatoes with gravy stuffing , sweet potatoes , green beans , cranberries and dessert . The dinner is free of charge and all are welcome from the West Hills community . The dinner is a partnership with Coraopolis Community Development .

CHRISTMAS IN CORAOPOLIS !
This wonderful annual event will be held Saturday , Dec . 2 , from 10 a . m . to 1 p . m . at the VFW Post 402 . Sponsored by the Coraopolis United Methodist Church and the Coraopolis Foundation , there will be a cookie sale , children ’ s activities , letters to Santa , free holiday family photos , and a visit from Santa .

MARY & MIKE ’ S MILES 5K RUN / WALK
The Mary Fowler and Mike Tolliver 5K Run / Walk for scholarships will be held on Saturday , Nov . 11 , beginning at 8:30 a . m . at Moon Area High School . All proceeds will fund two brand-new scholarships , which will be awarded to two individuals in the 2024 graduating class of Moon Area High School .
The Mary Fowler Scholarship will be designated for an individual seeking vocational education . Mary was a beautician for over 50 years , a teacher of cosmetology and salon owner . She was also an avid racer / walker , and coach for the Wings of Moon Track Club .
The Michael Tolliver Scholarship will be designated for an individual entering college . Michael was a special education teacher for 18 years , a football and basketball coach , and an avid runner .
HOPE GROWS
Hope Grows is a nonprofit dedicated to caregiver wellness . It provides counseling and support services , education resources , and respite for those taking care of loved ones .
The organization is now accepting reservations at the Iris Respite House , a unique , nature-centered bed and breakfast specifically for caregivers who need a chance to rest , relax and restore .
