TAKE A HIKE !
The weather is a bit cooler , but with a warm jacket and some comfortable shoes , it ’ s a great time to get out and watch nature as it changes right before our eyes . We are lucky to have the Montour Woods at our doorstep . The main trailhead for this 320-acre conservation area is located on Hassam Road . You can walk , run and bike along the 10 miles of forested trails . Motorized vehicles are not allowed however . And please leave the natural surroundings as you found them since they are the home of many happy animals . For more information , visit hollowoak . org .
CRESCENT TOWNSHIP CIVIC CLUB
The Crescent Township Civic Club meets the last Tuesday of each month at 6 p . m . in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Crescent Township Municipal Building , located at 225 Spring Run Road . VETERANS BREAKFAST
In honor of our servicemembers , a Veterans Breakfast is being held on Nov . 4 at Robin Hill Park on Thorn Run Road , from 9-11 a . m . All veterans are invited along with a guest and no reservations are required to attend . The event is being sponsored by Air Ground Xpress and Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sewickley .
THE PITTSBURGH NUTCRACKER BALLET
“ The Nutcracker ” has been a lovely Christmas tradition for generations ! The Pittsburgh Ballet will present the beloved story Dec . 9-28 at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts .
Legendary Pittsburgh choreographer Terrence Orr has created an enchanted world where fanciful characters come to life in a production that features five different scenes with more than 150 beautifully designed costumes . THANKSGIVING DINNER
Ten years ago , a lovely community Thanksgiving Dinner was begun by Jeanne Cosgrove and Randy Cosgrove , who was known as “ the voice of the
Steelers ” for 15 years . Two-hundred Thanksgiving meals were served in its first year . Sadly , in 2018 , Randy passed on . But the annual event has continued , and in 2021 , more than 500 meals were served , delivered by volunteers to first responders .
This year , Coraopolis United Methodist Church , 1205 Ridge Avenue , will hold its 10th Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thursday , Nov . 24 , from 1-2 p . m . for Grab-n-Go meal pickup and Dine-In seating from 3-5 p . m . Menu items will include turkey , homemade mashed potatoes and gravy , stuffing , green beans , cranberries and dessert .
The dinner is free and all are welcome from the West Hills community . Coraopolis Community Development is a partner for this year ’ s event . Reserve your meal by Wednesday , Nov . 16 , at 5 p . m . by emailing office @ coraopolisumc . org or calling 412.264.3727 . CHRISTMAS IN CORAOPOLIS !
On Saturday , Dec . 3 , Coraopolis United Methodist Church will hold its 10th Annual Cookie Sale inside VFW Post 402 from 10 a . m .– 1 p . m . There will also be children ’ s activities , letters to Santa , and free holiday family photos , along with a visit from the jolly old man himself — Santa !
