ATHLETE !

We are looking to profile students who are excelling in a particular high school sport . Please email editors @ icmags . com . To be considered , the email subject line must say HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE FOR ( NAME OF HIGH SCHOOL ) and you must submit a hi-res ( 300 dpi , at least 1MB ) photo of your child in uniform attached to the email . Please include your child ’ s name , grade , and a brief description of accomplishments along with your email address and phone number .
‘ HERE COMES THE SUN ’ SUMMER KICKOFF
Get your summer started off right with this Moon Parks Foundation event that ’ s fun for all ages . Live music , featuring Beatlemania , will get your toes tapping . There will be a beer garden , carnival games , food trucks with delicious food , rock climbing , miniature golf , and too much more to mention here !
This event helps raise funds for the addition of shade structures around the splash pad and playground areas , and permanent games installed throughout Moon Park , which will be enjoyable for all ages . A portion of the proceeds will
WORK OUT WITH LINDA !
Linda Francis began teaching fitness classes in 1974 at a local YMCA . Fifty years on , she is still helping people to stay in shape . She ’ s a certified fitness instructor in the Moon Township area , and her current students range in age from 55 to 94 ! She adapts the classes for the participants .
Linda also volunteers as the host of a local exercise show called “ Senior Workout ” on Moon ’ s MCA-TV on channel 14 , 21 or 35 depending on your cable provider . Her show has run continuously since the startup of the station in 1985 . The show is broadcast mornings at 8:30 a . m .
She was honored with a Difference Maker Award from Allegheny County , which was presented to her by Councilman Tom Baker . The award recognized her incredible efforts to help others and the positive impact she ’ s had on people in the community .
Linda advises seniors to keep active by walking , playing a sport such as pickleball ,
also be donated to the UPMC Children ’ s Hospital Foundation to help support more than 50 specially trained service dogs who visit patients and more .
The kickoff will be held Friday , May 31 ( in the event of rain , June 1 ), from 4:30 to 9 p . m . at Moon Park . For more details on pricing and events , visit moonparks . org .
