WHAT’S NEWS IN MOON TOWNSHIP OHIO VALLEY HOSPITAL AND HERITAGE VALLEY HEALTH SYSTEM COMPLETE AFFILIATION CLEARVIEW PRESENTS THE 2018 JOSEPH C. CIRELLI COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD TO BONNIE NICHOLS After receiving final regulatory approval, Ohio Valley Hospital and Heritage Valley Health System have officially joined together. The two not-for-profit health care institutions share the common mission of bringing high-quality, cost effective health care to communities. By unifying the organizations, they can expand their footprint to further meet the health care needs of the region. “We are looking forward to what the future holds for Ohio Valley Hospital by joining forces with an organization like Heritage Valley that we highly respect and trust,” said Mark Brennan, Chair of the Board of Ohio Valley Hospital. OVH is now a subsidiary of Heritage Valley Health System. Both boards of directors have collaborated over the past year to develop an agreement that best meets the needs of the community and patients served by Ohio Valley Hospital. The alignment is expected to enable OVH to enhance its medical staff, expand clinical services and fund future capital projects. Ohio Valley Hospital, like many independent community hospitals, has been challenged in past years by increasing operating costs and decreasing reimbursement. “Our priority has always been, and will continue to be, to provide and increase quality health care for our community members,” said Brennan. “Affiliating with Heritage Valley Health System will allow us to do just that.” “Heritage Valley is very pleased and honored to have Ohio Valley join our integrated health care organization,” said Lynn George, PhD, Chair of Heritage Valley Health System Board of Directors. “Our board unanimously supported the affiliation and, identical to Ohio Valley Hospital’s Board, remains committed to high-quality, cost-effective, locally accessible community health care.” 8 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE ❘ EVERYONE DESERVES A CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL NEIGHBORHOOD Join the Great American Cleanup of PA Cleaning up your neighborhood is one of the best investments you can make. Cirelli Community Service Award to Bonnie Nichols for her work with Living in Liberty. Living in Liberty is an organization whose goal is to restore dignity and freedom to victims of human trafficking. It offers secure safe houses, participates in outreach with victims on the streets, and educates the community at large about prevention in our communities and worldwide. The Joseph C. Cirelli Community Service Award was created to recognize a person who provides outstanding service to his/her community. The award is named in honor of former Clearview President and CEO Joseph Cirelli, who served the credit union for 35 years and also supported several charities and causes. “The Joseph C. Cirelli Community Service Award is something we are very proud of because it brings awareness to an individual in the community who is making a significant difference. The work Bonnie has done for Living in Liberty and the impact the organization has had in the community made her a perfect candidate to receive this award,” said Ron Celaschi, President and CEO of Clearview. Nominated for the award by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Nichols has volunteered with Living in Liberty since 2013, and leads street outreach to help meet the immediate needs of those at risk and share knowledge of the programs the organization has to offer. In addition to Nichols receiving the Joseph C. Cirelli Community Service Award, Clearview contributed a $2,500 donation to Living in Liberty, which will be used to help
