P
remier Women’s Health prides itself on delivering excellent
women’s health and maternity services in the Ohio Valley since
1968. Offices are conveniently located in both Sewickley and
Moon. The Sewickley campus of Heritage Valley Health System
(HVHS) is located only minutes away from the offices. Heritage
Valley Sewickley has private labor and delivery rooms, a dedicated
operating room, a dedicated anesthesia staff for those desiring
epidurals, and private postpartum rooms, affording patients and
family members a comfortable, cozy and quiet
birthing experience. The experienced Maternal and
Child Health nursing staff strives to make your visit
as special as the little one you will be delivering.
They consistently exceed patient expectations.
“The goal of the health care providers of Premier
Women’s Health is to provide patients with the best
birthing experience available. The group fosters one-on-one patient/
provider interactions. Care is not diluted among teaching staffs or shared
with other obstetric groups. As a result, patients are not meeting the
provider for the first time when arriving at the hospital for delivery. With
Heritage Valley Sewickley being a community hospital, patients can be
assured that they will receive personal attention for all their birthing and
postpartum needs. Overall patient satisfaction, as measured by Press
Ganey, consistently scores above the 90th percentile.
The physicians of Premier Women’s Health average over 22 years of
obstetric experience. Interestingly, two are also registered pharmacists,
two are Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, one served time in
the Public Health Service, one is certified in bone densitometry, and one is
certified in menopausal medicine.
Premier Women’s Health, in conjunction with Heritage
Valley Sewickley, advocates and embraces breastfeeding
through The Keystone 10 breastfeeding quality
improvement initiative. The initiative is designed to
improve the protection, promotion, and support
of breastfeeding in an attempt to maintain
breastfeeding as a long-term infant feeding
method. This initiative is augmented by a lactation
support program, with board-certified lactation
consultants, and with the Breastfeeding Moms
Network, a support group that meets two times
a month. The obstetric team also supports skin-to-
skin interaction between the newborn and her mother.
Benefits include stable newborn heart and respiratory
rates, temperature, and blood glucose. This interaction also allows the
infant to be colonized with the mother’s bacteria. The providers are also
proponents of delayed cord clamping to reduce newborn anemia.
Heritage Valley Sewickley offers a variety of prenatal classes. These
include tours of the birthing unit for children and adults, expectant
parent prenatal classes, breastfeeding classes, grandparent classes, and
fatherhood (“Dr. Daddy”) classes.
