DONATION PROGRAM
Community Auto, a program of The
Lighthouse Foundation, is a nonprofit
program that accepts donated cars, repairs
and inspects them when feasible, and sells
them at discounted prices to low-income
working families and individuals. The
used car in your garage that you don’t
have time to sell, or didn’t get the trade-in
value you wanted, or a car the kids used
but no longer need would be the perfect
car to donate. Your generous donation is
tax-deductible.
Please contact Community Auto
at communityautolico.org or call

donate your car.

On Sunday, Nov. 18, the Junior
Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh will
present its fall concert—Dreams and
Dances—at Third Presbyterian Church.
The nearly 50 young singers of the
choir will be joined by guest musicians
the Kassia Ensemble as they present
a program of dreamlike choral music
featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s “Beatus Vir
RV 598,” Gwyneth Walker’s “Dreams and
Dances,” and music by Abbie Betinis,
Thomas Morley, Rosephayne Powell and
Sarah Quartel.
The Junior Mendelssohn Choir of
Pittsburgh ( JMCP) is the only program
of its kind in the region and one of the
country’s few vocal training programs for
youth managed

old to perform

enables talented students in grades 9
through 12 to train with accomplished
professional singers and music educators.
Scholarships ensure that no student is
denied acceptance for financial reasons.
“These young singers are exceptionally
engaged and motivated,” says Caron
Daley, music director of the JMCP.
“They’re game to tackle any challenge,
and their enthusiasm and skill make for
exciting concerts. We are very proud to
share their work with the community.”
Many former JMCP members have gone
on to make careers in music, and many
now sing as adults in the Mendelssohn
Choir of Pittsburgh (MCP), one of the
most celebrated choirs in the country.
The JMCP has performed with the
Pittsburgh Symphony, the Pittsburgh
Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Plum
Creek Chamber Orchestra and the MCP.
This season’s JMCP consists of 40 singers
