members coordinated the group’s
fifth “Art in the Park” event on June
18. The highly popular annual event was held at
Monroeville Community Park West from 9:45
a.m. to 3 p.m. for children ages 6 through 12.
More than 250 children and family members
attended. There was no admission charge
because funding was provided by UPMC East.
Monroeville Recreation and Parks Department
provided the publicity and reserved the venue.
Craft supplies and additional instructors were
donated by Pat Catan’s of Monroeville.
A variety of activities were offered including
art, crafts, theater, music and creative
experiences designed by experienced Art in the
Park volunteer coordinators, allowing youths
to enjoy fibre arts, beading, drawing, painting
and more.
Children had the option of staying as long as
they wanted, or selecting preferred activities.
Parents were offered art activities, or could
relax on their own in the adult areas. MAC
members thank all those who worked and
participated to make this event
successful.
