GRAMS AND UPDATES HOMEOWNERS RECEIVE: 2018 THE PROPERTY TAX RENT REBATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2019 The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is one of five programs supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery. The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is one of five programs supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery. The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians ages 65 or older; widows and widowers ages 50 and older; and people with disabilities ages 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 per year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters. Half of Social Security income is excluded. Depending on income, rent, and tax costs, rebates can be as FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION The Millcreek Municipal Building will continue to be one of the many sites for AARP free income tax preparation again in 2020. The IRS sponsored TCE Program (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) along with AARP offer the tax preparation program for those with low to middle income with special attention to those 60 years of age and older. Tax preparation will be held every Monday and Friday at the Municipal Building beginning February 7, 2020 and continuing through April 13, 2020. Items to bring for your appointment: Income Maximum Rebate $0 to $8,000 $8,001 to $15,000 $15,001 to $18,000 $18,001 to $35,000 RENTERS RECEIVE: Income $650 $500 $300 $250 Maximum Rebate $0 to $8,000 $8,001 to $15,000 $650 $500 high as $650. Your rebate may even be higher if you pay more than 15% of income in property taxes. The deadline to apply for a rebate is December 31, 2019. HEALTH SCREENINGS AT THE MILLCREEK MUNICIPAL BUILDING LECOM Lifeworks Erie will conduct health screenings at the Municipal Building on the second Monday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Screening dates are: November 11 December 9 January 13 Free services will include blood-pressure screenings and individual health counseling provided by a registered nurse. Also available for a fee will be a blood sugar test (two-hour fast from food and drink required) and a cholesterol check (no fast required). No registration is required.
