RECYCLING DEPARTMENT DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS ANNOUNCEMENTS RECYCLING Utilizing recycling and trash services for residential pick-up is not a choice, but the law! Residents are required by Pennsylvania Act 101 of 1998 and Millcreek Township Ordinance #2006-11 to sign up for both trash and recycling with Waste Management (1-866-833-1327) upon moving in the Township in order to receive weekly trash/ recycle collection. In addition, Township Ordinances require that recyclables and leaf waste be separated from municipal waste and disposed of properly. The Millcreek Township Recycling Department appreciates your cooperation! The following items should be contained within the blue recycle bin and/or a 33-gallon clear/transparent bag: FLATTENED CARDBOARD & PAPERBOARD METAL CANS illcreek MI LLCR EE K TO WNSH I P RE C YC LI N G NE WS PAPER (Brown Paper Bags, Non-Confidential Office Paper, Newspapers, & Magazines) GLASS BOTTLES & JARS PAPER CARDBOARD, DAIRY, & JUICE CARTONS PLASTICS (Look for #1-7) It is also EXTREMELY important to keep the following items out of your blue recycle bin! NO PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS *Plastic bags are accepted at participating grocery & retail stores! NO FOOD WASTE & DEBRIS *Consider starting a new compost bin or pile in your yard to turn food waste into nutrient-rich compost! NO FOAM (#6 PLASTIC) *Foam products are not recyclable and must be thrown away with curbside trash. For missed curbside pickups or billing concerns, please call Waste Management at 1.866.833.1327. TELEPHONE BOOK RECYCLING FUNDRAISER DECEMBER 1, 2016 – JANUARY 31, 2017 Telephone books will be collected at the Millcreek Municipal Building (3608 West 26th Street). All phonebooks will be recycled into building insulation by Erie Energy Products. All proceeds from this campaign benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank! MILLFAIR COMPOST & RECYCLING CENTER CLOSES FOR SEASON LAST DAY: DECEMBER 4, 2016 Be sure “winterize” your yard before it’s too late! Millfair accepts both brush and leaves from Millcreek, Fairview, and West County Residents for FREE! ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TREECYCLING EVENT JANUARY 14, 2017 - 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Send your unwanted Christmas Trees to the Millfair Compost & Recycling Center to be chipped and mulched on this day!
