As a son and nephew of firefighters, Anderson’ s passion for fighting fires was ignited around age five. He believes that the fire service at its core is never just about compensation; it is about caring for people, their homes and most importantly their community.
I was inspired by the pride, selflessness and sense of duty firefighters have toward their communities.
Community Impact
Anderson was retired for nearly two years from the fire service, but was still keeping sharp and up-to-date with his consulting and grant-writing business for firefighters. He states that he missed the“ challenges and responsibilities of holding an important position at a fire department, all while adding immense value to a community.”
Throughout his experience grant writing, he has been able to provide $ 21 million in grants for 11 states around the country – $ 5.4 million awarded at the benefit of Millcreek Township. What a feat!
With this amount of skill and experience, he will not only provide grant literacy and fire service expertise, but strong leadership skills to help strengthen the efficiency of the Millcreek Fire department, alongside Chief Mike Cliff.
Looking Ahead
As Anderson heads into his first year of being the Assistant Fire Chief, some of the goals that Anderson wants to achieve are focusing on prevention of fires and community risk reduction.
When asked how fire departments play a valuable role in the community, Anderson says,
Today’ s firefighters are problem solvers, plumbers, electricians, counselors and sometimes social workers.

Additionally, the majority of firefighters are trained paramedics and are able to begin life saving care before EMS arrives to the scene.
Having a few months of experience at Millcreek Fire Department, Anderson says that his experience so far“ has been nothing short of amazing” and he is excited to help educate MFD with his professional development skills and experience in the field.
