MPA BREAD BOX AWARD
In March , the Second Harvest Food Bank presented the Millcreek Police Association ( MPA ) with their annual Bread Box Award . The annual Bread Box Awards ceremony recognizes several categories of community leaders who supported the food bank over the past year .
The MPA helped to collect $ 6,102.38 and over 1,975 pounds ( nearly 1 ton ) of food ! They held three separate drives for the food bank . Their two Stuff the Cop Car campaigns and their Sportsman ’ s Raffle were well-attended and brought in a record amount of food and funds . illcreek

“ We love doing these events and are thankful for the recognition from the Second Harvest Food Bank ,” said Cpl . Kyle Caldwell , MPA president , “ ultimately we do these events to give back to the community and we would want to do that even with no award .” Be on the lookout for future drives and events !
MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING
The Millcreek Township Police Department is now one of the few police departments in Pennsylvania with 100 % of their officers trained in Mental Health First Aid . They partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness ( NAMI ) of Erie County to train all 65 Millcreek Township Police ( MPD ) Officers , administrators , and several police dispatchers .
The eight-hour course taught officers to identify signs and symptoms of common mental health and substance use disorders , crisis diffusion skills , affirming and reassurance tactics , as well as self-help and support strategies .
