Millcreek Township Wins Statewide Awards for Communication Efforts
Millcreek Township’s efforts to keep
its residents updated and informed
about the community have earned
the municipality three awards in the
Pennsylvania State Association of
Township Supervisors’ (PSATS) 51st
Annual Citizen Communication Contest.
The annual contest recognizes townships
that have successfully communicated
programs and activities to citizens.
Millcreek Township tied for first place
in the Other Publications category for its
2018 calendar and tied for second place
and received third place in the Cable
TV Programs category for “SafeNet” and
recycling commercials, respectively.
The contest attracted entries from
across the commonwealth in eight
categories, including printed and
electronic newsletters, most improved
newsletter, other publications,
audiovisual communication, cable TV
programs, social media, and websites. In
all, 36 townships submitted 106 entries
for this year’s competition, and 21
individual townships won awards.
All contest entries were judged on
the usefulness of information presented
and how well the information was
communicated to township residents.
Publications were also judged on their
overall attractiveness and readability.
Judges for the contest included
members of the association’s standing
committees and PSATS staff.
The Pennsylvania State Association
of Township Supervisors represents
Pennsylvania’s 1,454 townships of
the second class and is committed
to preserving and strengthening
township government and securing
greater visibility and involvement for
townships in the state and federal
political arenas. Townships of the
second class represent more residents
– 5.5 million Pennsylvanians – than any
other type of political subdivision in the
commonwealth.
