Letter from
the Supervisors
A
fter a bitter cold Erie winter, we gratefully welcome an early spring.
The warmer weather brings thoughts of the many fun activities we
look forward to each summer.
For the seasoned or even the novice golfer, we are excited to
announce the Millcreek Golf and Learning Center will be open
under new management. Be sure to check out the article which
reveals their exciting future plans for the Center.
Also in this issue, you will meet our McDowell
Student Ambassadors that were able to participate
at the Millcreek Township Supervisor’s meetings
throughout the year.
Public Services is proud to receive awards from Pennsylvania State Association of
Township Supervisors (PSATS) 51st Annual Citizen Communication Contest for our 2018
Calendar, Millcreek Government Channel show featuring SafeNet, and the Recycling
Department’s Public Service Announcements. Learn more about the PA Property Tax/Rent
Rebate and many other programs available.
Don’t forget the Millfair Special Collection Event coming up on May 18th! The Recycling
Department explains what services will be available that day. Also, our Millfair Compost
Center is open for the 2019 season. You won’t want to miss out on our 50% off “Kick Off the
Season Sale”!
Emergency Management covers the most recent fireworks law and the Millcreek Police
Department familiarizes us with the Dispatch Center.
Everyone have a great summer and remember to join us at the 4th of July Parade!

Hannah French and Shane
Karnes are currently seniors at
McDowell High School. Shane
competes for the Speech and
Debate Club, Mock Trial Team,
and DECA Club, serving as
president of all three. Shane will
be attending Emory University
in the fall and plans to pursue
a double major. The first in
Politics, Philosophy, & Law and
Hannah French
Shane Karnes
the second in Economics.
Hannah French is the Founder
and current President of the Environmental Club. She participates in Orchestra, is the
Treasurer of the Key Club, and an active member of National Honors Society, Exposure,
and Honors College. She plans on attending American University next fall to major in
International Affairs and minor in Economics.
This year, Shane and Hannah have served as Student Ambassadors for Millcreek
Township. The two alternate sitting alongside the Millcreek Supervisors at their
biweekly meetings, learning about local government and politics as well as giving
reports on upcoming events and recent news about McDowell. Hannah and Shane
both feel that their experiences at these meetings have given them a new appreciation
for our local government as it has emphasized how important it is to have strong and
effective leaders in local government. Both students are thankful for the opportunity to
represent McDowell and to also serve their community.
