We know . That sounds contradictory to everything you ’ ve heard from us , but with an unknown total of thousands of visitors coming and Presque Isle only having one entrance and exit , the park will be a traffic bottleneck . If you go , you likely may be be seeing totality from your car .
THE BEST VIEWING LOCATION IS YOUR HOME

Check out the following two pages for a map highlighting areas of likely traffic congestion . If you leave your home to view the eclipse you will be competing with thousands of viewers from out of town that will likely be distracted . illcreek

DO NOT VIEW THE ECLIPSE WITH YOUR NAKED EYE OR THROUGH ANY SCREEN EVEN WITH ECLIPSE GLASSES .
“ Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse , when the Moon completely blocks the Sun ’ s bright face , it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing ...”
“... Do NOT look at the Sun through a camera lens , telescope , binoculars , or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury .”

DO MAKE A PLAN FOR THE ECLIPSE DAY
Where are your kids going to be ? Are you stocked up on groceries in advance ? Do you have any appointments scheduled for that time ? Can your caretaker arrive or depart safely that day ?
All of these questions can and should be answered weeks in advance .
