A New Chapter for an Old Friend

The familiar Nicholson House is enjoying new life as a hip escape room location , thanks to a local couple who saw its potential .

The stately Nicholson House , located along Ridge Road , has been a familiar site to locals for almost 200 years . Cars whiz by it every day . It ’ s impossible to ignore , being set very close to the road , but unfortunately , many who pass by do not know its interesting past .

John and Isobella Nicholson arrived in the area sometime around the late 18th century . They were immigrants with almost nothing . And from nothing , they made something . They established a farm , a grist mill , a lumber mill , and became important members of the burgeoning community .
John passed away in 1828 , leaving his middle-aged widow to face life on her own . Far from a shrinking violet , Isobella must have been a woman with some gumption and a fair amount of business acumen . She determined to construct a large home on the property , with the help of her sons , that she designed herself .
It became known as The Nicholson Inn . This thriving tavern and inn was an important watering
