Take a Stroll on the New Boardwalk at Asbury Woods The boardwalk is wider, longer, and leads to a new wetlands teaching pavilion, gazebo, and observation deck. Visitors to the popular nature preserve this spring can enjoy that stroll on the newly constructed boardwalk. For decades, the Asbury Woods boardwalk has provided access to the educational, environmental, and recreational facilities and events on the 205-acre property. Jennifer A. Farrar, CFRE, Asbury Woods Executive Director, says one of the first things visitors will notice about the new boardwalk is that it’s wider. The new 8-foot-wide design allows two adults to walk comfortably side by side, easily accommodates a wheelchair, and enables a mom pushing a stroller to walk holding a toddler’s hand. It also has handrails on both sides, corners that aren’t as sharp as those on the old boardwalk, and deck lighting that will give Asbury Woods the flexibility to hold more evening events. “One of the goals was to make it more accessible,” says Farrar. “Walking on the boardwalk is now a much easier experience for all ages.”
