TO HOLD EASTER EGG
HUNT
FAMILY STEM NIGHT!
Head out to Headwaters Park at 1927
Wager Road, 16509, on April 20 at
11 a.m. for a kid-friendly morning of
Easter egg hunting! The rain-or-shine
event is geared for ages 2-4, 5-7 and
8-11. Cost is $5 per child. Each child will
receive a goodie bag following the hunt.

8TH ANNUAL MIXED-
MEDIA STUDENT ART
COMPETITION: ‘ALL
THINGS FOREST’
Many visitors to Presque Isle State
Park express their experiences in different
ways. As an artist, share your natural
impressions through Presque Isle’s
8th annual mixed-media student art
competition, “All Things Forest,” open
to all students from first grade through
college currently enrolled in a public,
private, or home school. Categories
include 8 x 10 photography, mixed media,
oil/acrylic/pastel, pencil/pen, watercolor,
and sculpture. Register online by Friday,
March 22, at events.dcnr.pa.gov/presque_
isle_state_park.
Artwork will be judged, and an award
presentation for artists and guests will
occur on April 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the
Tom Ridge Environmental Center. Each
category will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
winner and a Best in Show will receive
the Chairman’s Award, sponsored by the
Presque Isle Advisory Board. All artwork
entered will be displayed on the 2nd floor
of the TREC from April 20 to May 28.

Get the whole family together for hands-
on fun and interactive STEM activities at
the Tom Ridge Environmental Center!
Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics with an environmental
emphasis. Learn how STEM is applied
to environmental situations and how it
is relevant to our understanding of the
natural world.
This program will meet at 6 p.m. on
the third Thursday of the month through
March 21. A different topic will be
presented during each programming time.
Topics will include forestry, aqua-ponics,
Fibonacci, bio-mimicry, winter ecology,
and more. No fee. Registration is required

YAHN PLANETARIUM
SHOWS
Public shows are offered year-round at
the Yahn Planetarium of Erie at Penn State
Behrend. More than 20 shows are available
for private groups to choose from, and
programs for the general public change
seasonally.
Public shows are offered Thursdays at
1 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 and 2:30 p.m.
throughout the year except holidays,
special event closings, etc.
The Yahn Planetarium also encourages
you to schedule a show for your next
school or group outing. For additional

recommended for ages 9 to adult.
Show Description: Visit the colorful
birthplaces and burial grounds of stars, and
go still farther out beyond the Milky Way
to the unimaginable immensity of a myriad
of galaxies.
Saturdays
1 p.m. — “From Earth to the Universe,”
recommended for ages 9 to adult.
2:30 p.m. — “The Sky Above Mister
Rogers’ Neighborhood,” recommended for
ages 4 to adult.

Show Description: This introduction to
the sky will show viewers the sun, moon,
and stars. Also, they will learn about a
couple of popular constellations.
All shows are followed by a look at the
current night sky in the planetarium dome.
Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for
children 12 and under. All Penn State
students, faculty and staff get free
admission with Penn State ID+ card. The
Yahn Planetarium at Penn State Behrend is
part of the School of Science.
