KEEPING HEALTHY WITH MILLCRE 406 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16507 CREATIVE ARTS LifeWorks Erie has received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to expand and improve our Creativity Matters program. The primary goal of this program is to improve the health and wellness of older adults in the Erie region. Our Creativity Matters program offers various techniques taught by professional artists. The Creativity Matters program for the spring session will feature two artist residencies and additional art workshops offered each session. Through this grant, all art supplies are provided and the cost of the programs will be significantly reduced. All courses are designed for beginners or accomplished artists. The residencies last 10 weeks. Other art workshops last anywhere from four to eight weeks. Our first residency will be Mosaic Art with Ed Grout. This 10-session program takes place on Tuesdays from March 5 through May 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. This residency will explore a comprehensive overview of mosaic as an art form. Mosaic murals and objects date back to one of the first art forms used in public and private decoration and remain vital in contemporary application. Participants will learn basic mosaic techniques and will have at least one finished project by the end of the residency. Materials are included in the price of the class. The second residency is Printmaking with Sarah Everett. This 10-session program will occur on Thursdays from March 21 through June 6 (excluding April 18 and May 9) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Printmaking is a process by which an image is carved into a block and printed on paper or, in some cases, fabric. The resulting image, called a print, can be reproduced numerous times for artistic or utilitarian purposes. Participants will design, carve and print images of their choosing to create fine art prints or stationary.
