Letter from
the Supervisors
S
o far this winter has been much kinder to us than last
year’s brutal record breaking snowfall, burying us for
the entire season! (But, then again, this is Erie and
anything is possible in February and March). It seems we are
inching closer to warmer days and spring weather, which
tends to increase the activity in the Township. This issue of
IN Millcreek will give you a glimpse of some of our exciting
planned events along with some interesting articles.
Our cover featured article will give you insight into the
problems facing our Ash trees, and steps we have in place for the Emerald Ash Borer.
The Emerald Ash Borer is a non-native, invasive insect that attacks Ash Trees. Included
in this interesting reading is information about our recent tree inventory and some
preliminary results.
In 2018, Millcreek saw some veteran employees retire and new employees become
part of the team. We wish our retirees a relaxing and enjoyable retirement, while
welcoming others into the Millcreek Township family.
Public services along with Lifeworks/LECOM have many programs lined up. There is
monthly healthcare screening dates provided and information on the Property Tax/Rent
Rebate, along with many more exciting events.
Spring, of course, brings the reopening on the Millfair Compost Center on March 18th
and notice of our 50% Kick-Off the Season Sale Event. Recycling has more information
on Millfair along with our annual Spring Cleanup event. Check out articles focusing on
how to keep animals out of your trash and instructions for submitting pictures to the
Photography Showcase for the 2020 Millcreek Township Calendar.
Be sure to find out Emergency Management’s top 5 “Shockingly Simple Spring Tips”.
Also, our Millcreek Township Police Department always has some helpful safety tips,
and this issue is no exception. Check out their article on child safety in vehicles with the
upcoming hot weather.
It won’t be long until we pull out the sunscreen and enjoy the lazy days of summer.
Until then, enjoy all Millcreek Township has to offer this beautiful spring season!
