MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP NEWS
SPECIAL TRIBUTE AT VETERANS PARK
As you drive by the intersection of Zimmerly and Love Road you may notice our newest addition to Veterans Park. Many of you may recall the“ Go Fish” statue campaign from back in 2000. The local chapter of the Rolling Thunder commissioned a military themed fish statue and the Go Fish statue was placed at member Ron Berquist’ s Millcreek Township business. The Rolling Thunder is an organization with an emphasis on military veteran issues including POW / MIA among many others. It was the group’ s intention to donate their statue to Millcreek Township for display at Veterans Park when construction of the park was completed. With the park open and regularly frequented by residents, this past Veteran’ s Day was the perfect time to show appreciation for the Rolling Thunder’ s special donation. On Saturday, November 11, 2017, the Township held a ceremony to formally accept this gift. Despite the extremely chilly temperature, the ceremony was attended by members of the Rolling Thunder as well as members of the S. O. N. S of Lake Erie. On your next visit to Veterans Park, we encourage you to take a closer look at this unique and special fish. The Township would like to thank the Rolling Thunder for this generous gift, as well as thank all the veterans that have served our country.
Protect Yourself From Identity Theft
IDENTITY THEFT
Identity theft has become one of the fastest growing crimes we see today. With the ability to commit this crime from almost anywhere in the world, the identity thief can run up debt in a person’ s name in no time at all and disappear into“ cyberspace” before the crime is even discovered.
If you suspect you are a victim of identity theft, you must act quickly. Contact your financial institution; most have fraud departments dedicated to such crimes.
Also, be sure to complete all forms required by your financial institution to ensure that you will not be held liable for any debt incurred.
Further, if you are uncertain how to proceed with this type of incident, please do not hesitate to report this matter to the
Millcreek Township Police Department, by calling the nonemergency number at 833-7777.
In addition, you should contact at least one of the three major Credit Reporting Agencies: Equifax: 1-800-525-6285 Experian: 1-888-397-3742 Trans Union: 1-800-680-7289 By doing so, you are allowing the credit reporting agencies to place a fraud alert on your information in an effort to prevent any future attempts at opening unauthorized accounts in your name.
