SPECIAL TRIBUTE AT VETERANS PARK

As you drive by the intersection of Zimmerly and Love Road you may notice our newest addition to Veterans Park . Many of you may recall the “ Go Fish ” statue campaign from back in 2000 . The local chapter of the Rolling Thunder commissioned a military themed fish statue and the Go Fish statue was placed at member Ron Berquist ’ s Millcreek Township business . The Rolling Thunder is an organization with an emphasis on military veteran issues including POW / MIA among many others . It was the group ’ s intention to donate their statue to Millcreek Township for display at Veterans Park when construction of the park was completed . With the park open and regularly frequented by residents , this past Veteran ’ s Day was the perfect time to show appreciation for the Rolling Thunder ’ s special donation . On Saturday , November 11 , 2017 , the Township held a ceremony to formally accept this gift . Despite the extremely chilly temperature , the ceremony was attended by members of the Rolling Thunder as well as members of the S . O . N . S of Lake Erie . On your next visit to Veterans Park , we encourage you to take a closer look at this unique and special fish . The Township would like to thank the Rolling Thunder for this generous gift , as well as thank all the veterans that have served our country .
