Make Your Spring Cleaning Count

Spring is just around the corner. And for many folks, that means it is time for Spring Cleaning. This year, while you are decluttering your closets, attics and garages, remember“ one man’ s trash, truly is another man’ s treasure.” The many items in your home that are simply collecting dust right now, may prove to be a valuable gift to someone else who is very much in need. So if you are looking for a new home for your old things, here are a few very worthwhile places to start.
Donate Used Eyeglasses
Do you have eyeglasses lying around that you are no longer wearing? Clean up your act and donate them to the Sight Center!
The World Health Organization( WHO) estimates more than 157 million people around the world have uncorrected refractive errors( near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism). Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses, yet millions of people in low and middle-income countries lack access to basic services.
Helping People Move Forward with Their Lives.

Donate

Although the Sight Center is not able to use the glasses locally due to FDA regulations, we pass on those donations to local mission groups who use the frames to help people around the globe see the world a little more clearly. All types of glasses for children and adults are needed, including very strong and very weak prescriptions. Reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses are also useful.
So next time you head to the optical shop to choose the latest styles, drop off your old glasses at the Sight Center. Donations are accepted Monday – Friday at 2545 West 26th Street in Erie, between 8 a. m.– 4 p. m.
