Make Your Spring Cleaning Count

Spring is just around the corner . And for many folks , that means it is time for Spring Cleaning . This year , while you are decluttering your closets , attics and garages , remember “ one man ’ s trash , truly is another man ’ s treasure .” The many items in your home that are simply collecting dust right now , may prove to be a valuable gift to someone else who is very much in need . So if you are looking for a new home for your old things , here are a few very worthwhile places to start .
Donate Used Eyeglasses
Do you have eyeglasses lying around that you are no longer wearing ? Clean up your act and donate them to the Sight Center !
The World Health Organization ( WHO ) estimates more than 157 million people around the world have uncorrected refractive errors ( near-sightedness , far-sightedness and astigmatism ). Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses , yet millions of people in low and middle-income countries lack access to basic services .
Helping People Move Forward with Their Lives .

Donate

Although the Sight Center is not able to use the glasses locally due to FDA regulations , we pass on those donations to local mission groups who use the frames to help people around the globe see the world a little more clearly . All types of glasses for children and adults are needed , including very strong and very weak prescriptions . Reading glasses and non-prescription sunglasses are also useful .
So next time you head to the optical shop to choose the latest styles , drop off your old glasses at the Sight Center . Donations are accepted Monday – Friday at 2545 West 26th Street in Erie , between 8 a . m .– 4 p . m .
