MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP NEWS
The quality of your water is closely monitored by Erie Water Works laboratory staff comprised of a Water Quality Manager and Supervisor, two Chemists, a Field Sampling Technician, and a Flushing Technician. The quality control that takes place throughout the piping network of the distribution system includes 150 monthly samples collected and tested for bacteria. The source water from Lake Erie entering the water treatment plants is also tested daily for contaminants. The Laboratory team works hard to ensure our customers receive the highest quality water possible through continuous monitoring of the entire process from our treatment facilities to your tap. Erie tap water consistently exceeds the strict standards set by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the PA Department of Environmental Protection.

Help Protect Our Water System!
Please help Erie Water Works and your community keep the water system safe by looking out for unauthorized fire hydrant use. Fire hydrants should only be used by firefighters and other emergency personnel, Water Works employees, and those who have applied for and obtained a permit in advance. Please call 814-870-8000 between 8:00 a. m.- 4:30 p. m. in order to obtain a fire hydrant use permit for nonemergency purposes. The permit includes the installation of a meter and backflow preventer, which ensures the water system is protected and the cost of the water is accounted for. Unprotected use of the hydrant may lead to a potential cross-connection that could result in drinking water becoming contaminated and unsafe. Pictured is a fire hydrant with the necessary meter and backflow preventer. Improper, unauthorized, or unpermitted use of a fire hydrant will result in fines and legal action.
Please report any suspicious activity or damage to a fire hydrant by calling 814-870-8087, 24 hours a day.
