Special Olympics athletes . Participants can take the plunge individually or as a team .
Registration and activities begin at 9 a . m ., with an opening ceremony at 11:30 , and plunging to begin at noon . New this year is the Frozen Footrace 5K which begins at 10 a . m .. This is the perfect way to warm up for the Plunge .
All funds raised by this event , which is sponsored by Rebich Investments , will provide free sports , health and leadership programming for Special Olympics athletes . To register for the event , visit NorthwestPlunge . org .
WINNIE THE POOH ' S ASBURY ADVENTURE
Save the date for this wonderful event on Saturday , Sept . 21 . It will be a day of fun and adventure with Winnie and his friends , Tigger , Pooh , Piglet , Kanga and Roo . It will also be a day of exploration filled with singing , games and learning at Asbury ’ s beautiful 234 acres of woods . Kids and adults will delight in the chance to see life-size characters , take a walk in the magical woods and join a dance party . Get ready for the Special Olympics Polar Plunge in Lake Erie on November 9 at Presque Isle State Park ! This will be the 10th year for this fun event for participants of all ages . ( Plungers under 18 will need a parent or guardian signature ) The dip in the cold waters of Lake Erie at Beach No . 7 , helps to support
BUDDY BENCHES
The American Legion Auxiliary , Unit 773 of Millcreek , recently donated a Buddy Bench to each of the five elementary schools in the Millcreek Township School District . The benches are a place for students who might be feeling lonely or just in need of someone to talk to . Other students can then join them or invite them to play . This interaction is especially important for children in their first years at school , and provides a great way for them to connect .
BEAUTIFUL MUSIC WITH THE ERIE PHILHARMONIC !
In September , the Erie Philharmonic will be presenting the music of Phil Collins and Genesis ! These concerts , on Sept . 21 and 22 , will highlight the music of this legendary band , which has been reimagined for full orchestra !
In November , children and adults alike will be enchanted with “ Frozen in Concert .”
All the beloved favorites have been included , “ Let It Go ,” “ Do You Want to Build a Snowman ,” “ For the First Time in Forever ,” and many others . The movie will be projected on the screen above as the orchestra plays !
