LOOP IN THE C O N T I N U E D MILLCREEK RESIDENT NAMED EVENT SERVICES MANAGER OF ERIE SPORTS COMMISSION The Erie Sports Commission announced Ben Huggler as its new event services manager, as of July 1. An Erie native, Huggler has more than 15 years of experience in planning and executing large-scale national events. Most recently, he served as the director of events for VertMarkets, where he oversaw all logistics for life science and software- focused events, including staffing, budgets, venues and event execution. Prior to joining VertMarkets, Huggler was the assistant director of global partnerships for Feld Entertainment. There, he was responsible for the development and implementation of sponsorships for the company’s live touring events, including Disney on Ice, Disney Live!, Monster Jam, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and Monster Energy Supercross. “It’s an honor to be joining the Erie Sports Commission and sharing all of the amazing resources we have available in Erie,” said Huggler. “I’ve worked a number of years on touring events, and I am excited to use that knowledge in welcoming sport and recreation events to my hometown.” Huggler will take over for Mark Jeanneret, who served as the organization’s only events director since July 2013 and is now the organization’s executive director. “Ben has a wealth of knowledge in securing and servicing national touring events, and will be an extremely valuable asset to our team at the Erie Sports Commission,” said Jeanneret. “I am confident that he possesses the skill set and personality to play a major role as we continue to grow the overall impact of our organization throughout Erie County.” 30 724.942.0940 TO ADVERTISE ❘ icmags.com Huggler has a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management and Tourism from Slippery Rock University. He lives in Millcreek with his wife, a teacher at Fairview Middle School, and two daughters. 68TH ANNUAL RACE OF CHAMPIONS 250 SET FOR LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY SEPT. 27-29 Tickets are available for the 68th Annual Race of Champions 250 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East. The event is scheduled to be held for the second year at the venue Thursday, Sept. 27, through Saturday, Sept. 29. The schedule and ticket pricing for the 2018 event will remain the same as the 2017 event. Thursday will be an open practice day, while Friday will offer championship events for the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series along with the Race of Champions Super Stocks. Saturday will be the running of the 68th Annual Race of Champions 250. Admission to Thursday’s open practice day is free. Admission to Friday’s events is $25 for adult general admission, $23 for seniors and military, $30 for reserved seating, $10 for youth, and free for youth under 5 years old. Saturday tickets are $35 for adult general admission, $33 for seniors and military, $40 for reserved seating, $12 for youth, and free for youth under 5 years old. Two-day tickets are available for $45 for general admission and $55 for reserved tickets. Pit Passes and Camping Passes are also available for members and non-members. The three-day event is the final event of the Race of Champions’ 2018 asphalt racing calendar. The event is the second- longest consecutive-running auto racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.
