and healthy, so why would I need a
membership to Millcreek Paramedic Service?”
Emergencies can happen in the blink of an
eye. A motor vehicle accident, fall or pre-existing
health condition can turn into an emergency in
a matter of seconds. A growing percentage of
our emergency responses are for patients in their
late 20’s to mid 40’s. Those in our community
who are 50+ years old, support our membership
campaign in large numbers, realizing the benefits
of a Millcreek Paramedic Service membership.
Millcreek Paramedic Service is your 911
provider in Millcreek Township. Your membership
helps us reinvest in our community to provide
the most advanced pre-hospital medical care. We
are ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a
year. Ambulances with highly trained crews, are
staged through the township ready to assist in
any type of emergency.
Today’s insurance plans vary in coverage
based on age, health and employer. Most plans
have a deductible and/or co-payment leaving
the patient with the balance after insurance
reimbursement.
As a member of Millcreek Paramedic Service,
in the event of an emergency transport to the
hospital, after insurance is billed and payment is
received, the membership will take care of any
remaining balance owed. There is no additional
expense when ambulance service is provided
and deemed medically necessary by YOUR
insurance company. Medical necessity, meeting
CMS (Medicare/Medicaid) guidelines. If another
service in Erie County transports a member of
MPS for an emergency, please know that your
membership covers you anywhere in Erie County.
We express much gratitude to those
many loyal members who faithfully join our
membership program year after year. We
encourage those who have yet to join to take
advantage of a membership now to prepare for
that emergency that just may happen today.

Pulse Point App Saves Lives Of Cardiac Arrest Victims
When someone experiences a sudden cardiac arrest, their survival is dependent
on early CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and defibrillation by an AED
(Automatic External Defibrillator). Many businesses in our community have these
life-saving devices, but the public and Emergency Medical Responders may not
be aware that these vital, life saving devices are available. Recently, Saint Vincent
Hospital and Highmark BlueCross Blue Shield launched a program that will allow all residents in our
community the ability to identify the location of these devices and alert those trained in CPR that a
cardiac event is occurring in their community.
This program, called PulsePoint, is a smart phone app that notifies CPR-trained citizens that
a cardiac arrest event is occurring in their vicinity. This allows these individuals, if they choose,
to provide lifesaving care until emergency services arrive. In addition, the app will identify the
location of AEDs in the community.
To get involved in this program, download the PulsePoint app to your Smart Device today.
There are two apps available; one is the PulsePoint AED app that lets you identify AEDs in
the community. This app is active now. The other is the PulsePoint respond app that will alert
bystanders of a nearby cardiac arrest. This app will be active within the next 12 months. Both
PulsePoint apps are free, available for both iPhone and Android, and can be downloaded from the
iTunes Store and Google Play.
For more information, please feel free to contact Dr. Jestin Carlson, MD at Saint Vincent Hospital at
jestin.carlson@ahn.org or at pulsepoint@ahn.org.
