We are excited to announce that the McKeesport Area
School District has been approved, by the Pennsylvania
Department of Education, for up to five (5) Flexible
Instructional Days (FID), per school year.
Flexible Instructional Days can be used in place of a student
school day that has been cancelled, due to severely cold
temperatures, or other emergency situations. The state will
count the Flexible Instructional Day as a full day of school,
and will not require a makeup day in its place. This does not
apply to MASD Pre-K Counts. Pre-K Counts students should
still attend school when our District declares “Closed-Flexible
Instruction Day.”
Student work will be sent home with your child before
an expected Flexible Instructional Day with information on
what work to complete. Should a student misplace their
assignments, they will also be posted our website (www.
mckasd.net) for access at home. Students with Individualized
Education Plans (IEP) will have specially designed
assignments according to their needs.
Faculty and staff, including both teachers and nurses, are
still required report to work for Flexible Instructional Days
and will be available for student questions through email, or
by calling the school.
Students should turn in all work completed during the
Flexible Instructional Day upon return to school. Attendance
will be determined by completion of the student’s work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your
child’s teacher.
