Woodland Hills and McKeesport Team up
for Secondary School Math Collaboration
The Grable Foundation awarded our two districts a grant to
work on an education initiative in grades 6 through 12. The
partnership focused on math literacy and non-traditional math
instruction. The priorities have become assisting Woodland
Hills in developing a Personal Business Finance curriculum and
implementing a co-teaching model in both of the high school
buildings. Lesson plans, scope and sequence, unit plan and unit
mapping will aid in the structure of the process and give us a
foundation for are ultimate outcome of better instruction and
learning in the area of secondary mathematics. Staff members
attended a two day training at the Luma Institute to develop
a meaningful project through illustration which focused on
establishing the non traditional instruction.

The Japan Society of Pennsylvania
visited our ACE classes at Francis
McClure recently and provided a
wealth of information to our students.
Not only did they participate in a
presentation, they were able to learn
and complete origami projects and try
on authentic Japanese clothing.
