Dear MASD Community,
It was incredible to be a
part of the MASD family
this fall as our athletic
teams earned many
honors, our band sounded
fantastic at performances,
and our vocational
technical programs did
tremendous work within
our community. When I ask
students what makes them
proud to be a part of the McKeesport Area School system,
they often cite our wonderful programs and the
support of the local community.

While these programs are an integral part of schooling,
our staff continues to focus on improving our academic
offerings to increase student performance and explore
more personalized learning choices for our students. We
want the education that our children receive at each of our
K-5 elementary schools to be consistent and high quality,
and we want our students to leave our grades 6-12 middle/
high school campus ready for college and/or a career. This
emphasis aligns with our Comprehensive Plan:
Goal #1 Classroom instruction must be relevant and
engaging for every child, every day.
Goal #2 Professional development will be focused to ensure
quality programming and instructional practices
district wide.
Goal #3 Academic performance will increase.
Goal #4 School culture will continue to be safe and
strengthen.
Goal #5 Collaboration and communication skills among
students, staff, administrators, and the five
municipalities will continue to expand.
As Superintendent of our district, I am dedicated to working
collaboratively with our students, staff, and community
to continue the great traditions of the MASD, and yet be
innovative in how we offer educational services to our
children. As we approach the end of the first semester, our
staff continues to work feverishly to educate our students.
During this intensified period of learning, we look forward
to the many opportunities that each of our students will
experience in our schools.
We encourage everyone to visit www.mckasd.net to
keep stay informed and remain actively involved in the
educational process.
