Tennis Clinic
The City of McKeesport hosted its second annual Youth
Tennis Clinic in September – inviting area kids to sharpen
their skills or simply try something new.
The clinic brought more than 40 children ages 6-16 to
the newly renovated tennis courts in Renziehausen Park
for a two-hour session with McKeesport Area High School
chemistry teacher and tennis coach Dr. Vladimir Kovalchuk.
“Dr. K.,” as students call him, led participants through
warm-ups and drills with the help of Mayor Michael
Cherepko, City Administrator Matt Gergely and Recreation
Director Jim Brown.
Each participant received snacks, a pack of tennis balls, and
a certificate of completion.
