‘Open Your Heart to a Senior’ needs volunteers year-round and countywide The number-one volunteer service request by seniors in Allegheny County is a ride to the doctor. Do you have an hour to help? United Way’s Open Your Heart to a Senior volunteers can take seniors to appointments or the grocery store, deliver meals, help at senior centers, take a senior out for dinner, do light yard work and much more. Summer Fun in White Oak The White Oak Recreation Board, located at 2280 Lincoln Way, will be hosting many great events throughout the summer including a Farmers Market at Heritage Hill Park on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon beginning June 11, a Community Softball Game: (WO Residents vs. WO Police) on June 26, a Family Swim Night on July 15, a Summer Arts and Craft Show on July 23 and the White Oak Community Day on Aug. 6.
