This regional park is the recreational cornerstone of our city – drawing crowds from across Allegheny and neighboring counties for youth activities, senior programming and a popular concert series. This year we will reveal the new Renzie Spray Ground, which replaces the old wading pool with a state-of-the-art spray park. This attraction includes a life-sized tiger slide and a variety of spray features in the McKeesport Area colors of red and blue. While we expect the tiger theme to be very popular among McKeesport Area kids, the park’s exciting features will have a tremendous appeal to children from across the region. Our spring programs – the Easter egg hunt, Spring Around Story Time, the McKeesport Grand Prix and others – were highly successful, and we are getting ready for new recreational basketball and dek hockey leagues in the summer and fall. Our pavilions and our walking trail are being used on a daily basis. For these reasons, I am sure that Renzie Park will continue to be a wonderful community asset for years to come. In this summer edition of the In McKeesport Area magazine, readers will see highlights from successful programs hosted by community organizations such as the McKeesport Recreation Board, NAACP McKeesport Unit, SS McKeesport Committee, the McKeesport Lions Club, the Angora Gardens Junior Gardeners and others. The City of McKeesport always is proud to partner with these organizations to bring great programs and community services to our residents. 40 McKeesport Area As always, the McKeesport Message Committee (a subgroup of the Mayor’s Select Committee on Crime and Violence) is recognizing individuals who are living our city’s message of “Respect, Dignity, Hope, and Love.” This q
