STEEL CITY ROWING
OFFERS FREE ‘INTRO
TO ROWING’ CLASSES
Steel City Rowing Club is located in
Verona on Arch Street, which was also
known as Boathouse Row before the
flood of 1936 wiped out all but three of
the boats clubs along that section of the
Allegheny River.
As a club, it offers many programs to
the public—some free and others for a
small fee. Members and participants in the
group’s programs come from all over the
region.
Join in the following free Intro to
Rowing Classes being offered through
July 20:
• April 20 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

9 to 10 a.m.

2019 LUCKY NUMBER
TICKETS AVAILABLE
The Sisters of Divine Providence have
2019 Lucky Number tickets available. The
ticket is based on the day and evening Pick
3 (Daily Number) PA Lottery game. Each
$25 number is valid through December
31, 2019! Daily winners receive a
minimum of $25 up to $150 on select days
throughout the year when their 3-digit
number is selected.

Cleaning up your neighborhood is one

Whether you have vacant lots plagued

The 15th annual Keep Pennsylvania
Beautiful Great American Cleanup of PA
can help get you started. Through May
31, thousands of Pennsylvania families
and friends will partake in litter and illegal
dump cleanups, beautification projects
such as tree and flower plantings, recycling
collections and education programs.
Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful partners
with PennDOT, the Department of
Environmental Protection, and Keep
America Beautiful to provide free trash
bags, gloves, and safety vests to registered
participants, as supplies last. During Let’s
Pick It Up PA—every day from April 13
through May 6—cleanups registered with
the Great American Cleanup of PA are
eligible to take their trash to participating

The Miss America Organization
(MAO) and the new licensee for the
state of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania
Organization) announced that the
MAO Board of Directors unanimously
determined to award the Pennsylvania
Organization State License to the group
led by Deborah Butcher and Dr. Kirstin
Snow.
As part of the process, the
Pennsylvania Organization will
seat a new board of directors that
will, as much as possible, include
representation
from all areas of
the state. The new
board will also
work closely with
the Teen program
to carry forward the success of the
existing program.
The Miss America Organization,
a 501(c)(4), is one of the most
recognizable household names in
America working to empower young
women through education and service.
Miss America candidates contribute
tens of thousands of community service
hours annually and have raised over
$17 million for Children’s Miracle
Network Hospitals and Miss America
scholarships since 2007.
The Miss America Foundation,
a 501(c)(3), provides academic,
community service, and other
