Mobile Vietnam memorial coming to McKeesport
The City of McKeesport will welcome The Wall that Heals Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica and Mobile Education Center to Renziehausen Park on August 9-12 . It is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington , D . C .
Thanks to Walt Yager , a McKeesport native and North Huntingdon Township resident , the Allied Veterans Memorial Organization will bring the Wall to the McKeesport community , which has a rich history in honoring Vietnam veterans . The LaRosa Boys and Girls Club of McKeesport is home to a granite
monument dedicated in 1966 to honor five club members killed in Vietnam . By 1969 , that count rose to 11 . Each year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day , the club and city conduct a ceremony there . At McKeesport Area High School , there is
a newer monument that recognizes the “ McKeesport 23 ,” who are 23 McKeesport High School graduates killed in Vietnam .
