I
n celebration of Black History Month, the NAACP
McKeesport Unit hosted its annual pancake
breakfast -- inviting members and the whole
community to come together for a hearty breakfast,
bake sale, artifacts display, and mime performance
on the morning of Saturday, February 24. Each year,
this event is a fruitful fundraiser for the local NAACP,
as well as a great opportunity for the unit to share its
mission with the city of McKeesport.

Heritage offers unique transportation
id you know that Heritage Community Initiatives
can serve McKeesport residents who register for
free or low cost transportation services? Heritage
Community Transportation serves 15 communities
within the Mon Valley, including McKeesport.
Not only does this service assist in taking residents to
area job sites from neighborhoods where traditional public
transportation is not available, it also stops are popular
locations including grocery stores and malls.
According to the Heritage Community Initiatives website,
the McKeesport line runs as follows:
Outbound stops are WalMart Garden Center in North
Versailles Township, Rite Aid, Lincoln Way at Fifth Avenue,
Lincoln Way at O’Neil Boulevard, Lincoln Way at Myers Lane
(PNC Bank), Oak Park Mall /Giant Eagle/Stop Sign, Lincoln
Way at Myers Lane (opposite of PNC Bank), O’Neil Boulevard
at Lincoln Way, O’Neil Boulevard at Summitt Street, O’Neil

Boulevard at Broadway Avenue, O’Neil Boulevard at Hartman
Street, Stewart Street at Grandview Avenue, Stewart Street
at Freemont Street, Stewart Street at Soles Street, Jenny Lind
Street at Evans Avenue, Versailles Avenue at Union Avenue,
Coursin Street as Versailles Avenue, Coursin Street at Shaw
Avenue, Lysle Boulevard at Port Authority Transportation
Center, Walnut Street at Fifth Avenue, Walnut Street at Ninth
Avenue, Walnut Street at Twelfth Avenue, and on to various
stops in Liberty borough before returning to Rebecca Street
at West Fifth Avenue. Inbound stops follow in reverse of the
outbound stops.
