Voted one of the top 10 public rose gardens in the United
States, this rose garden and arboretum contains some 1,200
rose bushes in 28 beds, plus 300 miniature rose bushes
and more. The site is maintained by the Garden Club of
McKeesport in association with the Pittsburgh Rose Society.

Rodef Shalom’s Biblical Garden

The Rodef Shalom Biblical Botanical Garden, established
in 1987, is the largest such garden in North America. Sitting
on a third of an acre, the garden is the only one of its kind
to feature an ongoing program of research and publication.
The pastoral setting includes a waterfall, desert, stream,
and a representation of the River Jordan, which meanders
through the garden from “Lake Galilee” to the “Dead Sea.”
All plants in the garden—more than 100—are labeled
with appropriate biblical verses and are displayed among
replicas of ancient farming tools. Visit the website for more

Wilkinsburg High School Rain Garden

Are you fascinated by rain gardens? See one close by! Nine
Mile Run Watershed and the students of Wilkinsburg High
School’s Key Club created a unique green space next to the
high school. This design includes a rain garden to address the
runoff from an adjacent parking lot, four large native trees,
