E. Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
F. Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of the school’s parent and family engagement policy and compact in
an organized, ongoing, and timely way.
G. Hold an annual meeting to inform parents of the school’s participation in the Title I Program and the rights of parents to be
involved in Title I. The school will convene the meeting at a convenient time for parents and will offer additional parent and
family engagement meetings so that as many parents as possible can attend.
H. Provide information to parents of participating students in an understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats
upon the request of parents with disabilities, and to the extent practicable, in a language that parents can understand.
I. Provide to parents of participating children information in a timely manner about Title I Programs that includes a description
and explanation of the school’s curriculum, the forms of academic assessment used to measure children’s progress, and the
proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
J. Title I funds will be used to pay for reasonable and necessary expenses associated with parent involvement activities.
K. Provide meetings for parents to formulate suggestions, and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of
their children.
L. Provide to each parent an individual student report about the performance of their child on the state assessment in at least
math, language arts, and reading.
M. Involve parents in decisions about how the Parent and Family Engagement funds will be spent.
The Founders Hall Middle School’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy was revised and reviewed with parents in May,
2018 and was approved for the 2018-2019 school year. The policy is in effect for the 2018-2019 school year. It also appears on
the McKeesport Area School District’s website, the In Community Magazine and available anytime at the school office.

Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy
In collaboration with parents, teachers, support staff, community members, school and district administration this Parent and
Family Engagement policy is updated annually in the spring. An invitation is sent home with all students, as well as, posted online to
request the attendance of all stakeholders at the annual meeting. The Francis McClure Elementary School Staff and the parents of the
students participating in activities, services and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA) (participating children), agree that this policy outlines how the families, the entire school staff, and the students will share the
responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and families will build and develop a
partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

DIBELS (Dynamic Indicator of Basic Early Literacy Skills)
Kindergarten through 5th grade will use a new Reading series this year entitled Journeys by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Supplemental reading programs based on student need for reading intervention groups
140 minutes (3rd – 5th grade) - 160 minutes (Kindergarten-2nd grade) daily for Language Arts instruction which includes a
40-minute enrichment period across the grade level.
