CITY OF MCKEESPORT NEWS
Not every city gets to boast its placement at the confluence of two rivers – making it the perfect place for seasonal recreation. McKeesport’ s unique geography has the city situated along the Youghiogheny and Monongahela Rivers, which are great for boating and water sports.
McKeesport hosted its first Riverfront Festival in several years – inviting community members to gather in Gergely Riverfront Park for live music, dancing, food, kayaking, water bikes, and an“ Anything That Floats” contest.
Mayor Tom Maglicco encouraged McKeesport residents to spend time along the riverfront and take advantage of recreation that a lot of other communities don’ t have – the Great Allegheny Passage, the Marina at McKees Point, and more.
“ We are lucky to have these things in our backyard,” the mayor said.“ There’ s so much to do here that many of us don’ t think about. Next summer, we hope to have something special along the river at least once a month.”
