Forbes to begin TAVR procedures .
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement ( TAVR ) is a minimally invasive surgery for patients suffering from aortic valve stenosis — a thickening of the valve that keeps it from fully opening . The procedure is especially effective for high-risk patients and can provide immediate relief from painful symptoms .
In addition to relief from symptoms , TAVR patients also have smaller incisions , a reduced chance of post-surgical complications , shorter hospital stays , and faster recoveries .*

Performing open-heart surgery is nothing new to Dr . Candice Lee . She usually operates at Allegheny General Hospital in
