throughout the winter months. Below are just

‘ASK THE ATTORNEY’ SESSIONS
FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES
Free legal consultation for non-criminal
issues such as divorce, bankruptcy, credit
issues, family matters, rent disputes and more
is available for families in need at NHCO
locations the third Wednesday of each month
at 7 p.m., except in the month of December.
The next ATA sessions are: Oct. 19 at
NHCO North Boroughs and Nov. 16 at
NHCO Allison Park. Attendees MUST

ORIENTATIONS
NHCO ANNUAL THANKSGIVING
FOOD COLLECTION
NHCO is collecting food items to create
complete Thanksgiving meals to distribute
to local families in need. Last year, nearly
800 local families received nourishing
Thanksgiving meals. Items that make a meal
include: grocery store gift cards of at least $15
for a turkey purchase, large boxes of stuffing
mix and instant mashed potatoes, canned
cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, easy
pumpkin pie mix, evaporated milk, muffin
mix, turkey gravy mix and napkins. Donations
are accepted through Nov. 16, but preferably
before Oct. 28 for a timely distribution.
NHCO offices, including the main office
located at 1975 Ferguson Road in Allison
Park, are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

GARDEN PRODUCE ACCEPTED
AT NHCO’S PANTRIES
NHCO welcomes donations of fresh
produce from home gardeners who wish
to share their excess garden bounty with
neighbors in need. Donations can be dropped
off at any NHCO office, Monday through
Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call NHCO at

or visit Ampleharvest.org to locate NHCO’s
three pantries.
WORKING FAMILIES ARE
WAITING: DONATE YOUR CAR
TO COMMUNITY AUTO
Your unwanted running vehicle can help
a low-income, working individual. Vehicles
donated to Community Auto are repaired and
sold at below-market value to local working
families who need them to get to work. Cars
not suitable for repair are sold at auction
and the money is used for the program. Ask
us about donating fleet cars! Please contact
Community Auto, a program of North Hills
Community Outreach, at 724.443.8300 or
visit communityauto.org. You could change
a life and get the maximum tax deduction.
FREE pickup and notary.
NHCO will host a Volunteer Orientation
session at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10,
in NHCO Allison Park, located at 1975
Ferguson Road. Volunteers are needed for all
sites. Needs include drivers for Free Rides for
Seniors shuttles, Salvation Army bell ringers
in November and December, drivers to
transport seniors to appointments, groups or
individuals to hold collections, volunteers to
post fliers in community locations and more.

RUN FOR THE HILLS! NHCO
SEEKS 5K RUNNERS, RELAY
TEAMS AND MARATHONERS
NHCO invites runners of all abilities to
run one of the races of the Dick’s Sporting
Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, to be held on
May 6 & 7, 2017. Registration is FREE when
you run for NHCO and help local families
in need. Runners can choose the 5K, form a
relay team or run the half or full marathon.

NHCO SPEAKERS AVAILABLE
North Hills Community Outreach’s staff
or volunteer speakers will speak to your
congregation, business, civic group or school
at no charge about NHCO’s programs and
services and volunteer opportunities. For

MARS AREA FALL CRAFT
SHOW
The 34th Annual Mars Area Craft Show will
be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. at Mars High School and Middle School.
Shuttle buses will provide transportation
between the schools. Admission for the event
is $2 for adults and $1 for students. Over 200
crafters will be available. Food and snacks will
be provided at the high school by the Band
Boosters and at the middle school by the
Woman’s Club of Southern Butler County.
Belle Voci will provide its famous chili at
the middle school, and holiday pastries and
chocolates will also be available. Proceeds
benefit the exchange program, the language
departments and the student scholarship
