Located along the riverfront in Aspinwall, Allegheny RiverTrail Park has become one of the region’ s most vibrant outdoor destinations— offering scenic trails, family-friendly amenities and a full lineup of summer programming that draws visitors from across Western Pennsylvania.
Once an industrial landscape, the park has been transformed into a welcoming community gathering space with about 1.5 miles of multi-use trails— perfect for walking, running and biking along the Allegheny River.
Visitors can also enjoy a variety of amenities including a playground, dog park, marina and boat access, fishing dock, and scenic overlooks like Eagles Watch, where they can take in sweeping views of the river and surrounding landscape. The park’ s open green spaces make it an ideal spot for picnics, relaxing with friends or simply enjoying a sunset by the water.
Families are especially drawn to the park’ s creative play areas and riverfront setting. Kids can explore the playground while dogs run freely in the dedicated dog park, and anglers or boaters can take advantage of the dock and marina. The trail network connects the entire space, making it easy for visitors to stroll the riverfront, bike through the park or stop at one of the many scenic spots to unwind.
Summer is an especially exciting time to visit, thanks to weekly food truck and brewery pop-ups( Food Truck Fridays) in addition to the park’ s popular Free Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Short family.
The monthly series brings live music to the riverfront on the second Friday of each month from June through September. Concert-goers gather on the lawn or along the river’ s edge with picnic blankets and lawn chairs
while enjoying performances from well-known regional and national acts. Food trucks and craft beverages are typically available beginning around 5 p. m., with the music starting at 7 p. m., creating a lively community atmosphere overlooking the water.
Beyond concerts, the park hosts a wide range of programs and classes throughout the year designed to connect people with nature and each other. These activities often include fitness classes such as yoga, family-friendly events, educational programs and seasonal gatherings that encourage residents to make the most of the riverfront environment.
With its blend of outdoor recreation, entertainment and programming, Allegheny RiverTrail Park is all about community. Whether visitors are looking for a morning run on the trail, an evening concert by the water, or a relaxing afternoon with family, the park offers countless reasons to explore— and makes for a perfect summer destination close to home.
