Seeing the Value of Vision
for the Whole Family
W
ith 2018 being its 10th anniversary
year, Clear Vision Family Eyecare’s
team of experienced doctors and
staff see that milestone as more
than just a date on a calendar.
“Many of our patients have been with us since
our inception, 10 years ago,” said. Dr. Shannon
Mihalacki. “We keep growing, often thanks to our
patients referring their kids, parents, grandparents
and friends to our practice! We love the
relationships we build with them and seeing their
families grow.” Their families have grown as well
through the years. In fact, the three doctors at Clear
Vision Family Eyecare have 12 children between
them, so family is a certainly a strong theme at their
practice.
Starting with patients as young as 6 months
old through the Infant-See program that offers
no-cost exams for children under 1-year-old, Clear
Vision’s dedication to early detection and lifelong
protection of your vision is unparalleled.
“There are potential health problems and visual
conditions that you can find in younger patients
that parents may not be aware of because they
seem to ‘see’ well,” said Dr. Rebecca Woodring.
“Problems with tear drainage, wandering eyes
and more serious conditions like retinoblastoma,

Because there is so much to see
which is a tumor in the eye, are all important
to screen for before kids get to be school-age.
Also, the younger a child is, the more malleable
the visual system is and the easier it is to
correct vision issues for them.”
Beyond that, it is recommended that older
children and adults see their eye doctor on an
annual basis especially in this age of constant
screen time that people endure because of
computer, tablet and mobile phone exposure.
Clear Vision Family Eyecare offers options
including eyewear and lens treatments
designed to specifically address strain
associated with these devices.
The office has advanced technology that
helps identify patients with risk of sight-
threatening conditions such as glaucoma,
macular degeneration and other eye disorders.
“It is rewarding to be able to provide an early
diagnosis and treatment, so that a patient will
not experience any impact to their vision nor
life,” said Dr. Mihalacki.
Clear Vision Family Eyecare co-manages
care with TLC Laser Eye Centers in Wexford for
Lasik surgery and they coordinate with other
specialist in cases where surgery is necessary,
such as cataract removal.
Contact lenses are a large part of Clear Vision
Family Eyecare. All of the doctors enjoy fitting
children with their first contacts. “We also
have a new brand of contact lens bifocals that
have been really successful with our patients
who have previously been unsuccessful with
multifocal contacts,” Dr. Woodring said. Dr.
Lacina specializes in fitting scleral lenses. These
are specialized lenses designed for patients
who have been told they cannot wear contacts
due to irregular corneas, such as keratoconus,
old scars or significant dryness.
The practice has an on-site optical
dispensary with the newest styles of frames,
featuring lines such as Lacoste, Calvin Klein,
Salvatore Ferraguma, and Kate Spade.
Clear Vision Family Eyecare also treats
dryness, allergies, eye infections, injuries, and
even foreign bodies in the eyes. It provides
comprehensive care for diabetics as well. “We
make sure that the primary care doctors receive
all the information they need to help maximize
care for our patients,” said Dr. Woodring.
