THE Inaugural PAWS IN FOR VETERANS DOG WALK The Sports and Entertainment Marketing class at Mars Area High School (MHS) in cooperation with the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society (WPHS) is organizing and hosting The Paws in for Vets Dog Walk on March 30, 2014, at the Treesdale Commons Community Center at 8:30 a.m. The event will raise funds for the WPHS Veterans Program. The program works to pair war veterans with shelter animals and provides financial aid to help facilitate the program. Sponsors will be present at the walk with booths and information for the participants and attendees. The goal set by the students is to have 200 dogs participate and raise over $5,000. Anyone wishing to donate to the cause or register for the walk can visit www.PawsInForVets.org. When clicking the online registration option, visitors will be able to join a fundraising team. Each team will compete to raise as much money as possible for the WPHS Veterans Program and the winning team will receive a prize at the event. Adam Natale of the SEM class adds, “I think we have a lot of motivated students in our class who are willing to do what it takes to make this event a success.” Everyone is welcome to participate and be a part of this worthwhile event which benefits the WPHS in helping provide shelter for homeless animals and our veterans, who have served our country so admirably. ■ Mars Area | Spring 2014 | icmags.com 7
