Lost in Yonkers: A
Great Performance
A coming-of-age Neil Simon comedy,
“Lost in Yonkers,” was skillfully performed
by the Northern Lights Theater Company
and benefited the Mars Area Public
Library on Grant Avenue. The drama
won the 1991 Pulitzer Prize. The local
production was directed by Garth Schafer
and produced by Donna McGee.
The Northern Lights Theater Company
is a nonprofit founded by McGee, which
has a mission “to present the finest
in theatrical entertainment...with the
proceeds supporting the important work
of local charities.” She also contributes to
the library by running occasional camps
there for kids to introduce them to theater.
“God has blessed me and it is
wonderful to be able to teach people
about theater and give them an
opportunity to see great [performances]
at a reasonable price.”
