Whether
you’re a
novice or a
seasoned walker,
there’s a trail for
you in our area.
Not only does walking help you physically,
it also does wonders for your psychological
and emotional well-being. Walking
reduces stress and the exposure to nature
is beneficial as well. According to a
University of Michigan study, nature grabs
our attention in a good way that can be
restorative.
Walking outdoors can help prevent
some cases of mild depression. Natural
endorphins are released, which improves
mood, and sunlight can increase vitamin D.
Better self-esteem often results from
consistent recreation, which is partially
due to the overall feeling of well-being
that occurs from regular aerobic exercise.
Breathing fresh air in a serene environment
is also a great way to unwind from a busy
day and reduce anxieties.
Studies also show that people who
exercise regularly experience deeper, more
restful sleep. Better sleep results in more
energy and alertness, as well as giving the
body a chance to repair and rejuvenate.
With all of these benefits, and great local
trails to walk, there is no excuse to not get
out and start moving!
