RING PITTSBURGH AUDITIONS
Ring Pittsburgh— an auditioned handbell
performance group— will be holding open
auditions at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at St.
Paul’s United Methodist Church, located at
1965 Ferguson Road in Allison Park.
Ring Pittsburgh formed during the
summer of 2016 under the direction of
Jim Rossetti with 13 experienced ringers.
During its inaugural year, eight concerts were
held at various sites in the area including
The Benedum Center (a pre-“Nutcracker”
performance), the Grand Lobby of Heinz Hall
and Northland Library, in addition to area
churches and nursing homes.
Rehearsals for the 2017-2018 year start
in late August at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays at St.
Paul’s United Methodist Church. Anyone
who has experience ringing handbells and
is interested in playing with a community
handbell ensemble is encouraged to contact

ANNUAL HARVEST GALA:
WHERE GENEROSITY AND
PREPARATION COLLIDE
This October, soft music and hors d’oeuvres
will kick off the evening for Penn Christian
Academy’s (PCA’s) annual Harvest Gala in
the elegant ballroom of The Butler Country
Club. Along with dinner, the evening will

feature silent and live auctions—with all items
donated by local and regional supporters.
Items include weekend excursions to Disney,
sports memorabilia, jewelry and furniture.
In addition, the “Buy It Now” tree provides
items for immediate purchase.
Individual seats may be reserved and local
businesses and friends can sponsor tables
of 10. Dinner speakers include PCA alumni
who will share their eventful journeys. An
array of desserts (including gluten free) are
donated by Pennie’s Bakery and Thomas’ Fine
Chocolates.
PCA’s motto is “Preparing Young Leaders
for Life.” The academy integrates a Christian
worldview with a first-rate education that
meets or exceeds benchmarks for state
licensure. Setting it apart are distinctive
programs such as its science lab, technology
lab, global learning lab, leadership training and
gifted and enrichment courses. Specialized
learning support and a reading assistance
program allow students to achieve higher
learning levels.

OF DIRECTORS
Shareholders of Mars National Bancorp
elected three new board members along
with seven incumbent directors at the
annual meeting held on April 18. The new
directors are Michael K. Bechtold, Executive
Vice President of Brayman Construction
Corporation; Gregory B. Mensch, Executive
Engineering Manager of the Naval Nuclear

Bechtold, Mensch and Thompson joined
re-elected directors Harry G. Austin III, Janet

James V. Dionise, Kenneth R. Fleeson, Dianne
Dobson Howard and J. Jay Thier.
Also at the annual meeting, Dallas C.
Hipple and R. Bruce Mensch retired from
the board.
Regarding the change in the board,
Dionise, who is President and Chief
Executive Officer of Mars National Bank, said,
“We owe a debt of gratitude to Dallas and
Bruce who served the bank for many years,
helping the bank to fulfill its mission meeting
the needs of our customers, community,
employees and shareholders. We wish them
well in retirement.”
