A Universe of Stories: A Summer
Learning Experience
Join in this summer as we celebrate all the
ways you can rock at the Castle Shannon
Library! We will be learning about different
styles of stories, space, astronomy, and more!
Don’t forgot to pick up your reading logs and
activity challenge cards to try to win raffle
basket prizes. Registration is appreciated for
all programs to ensure that enough supplies
are prepared. (Please note that there will be
no programs from July 20-27).
Summer Reading Kickoff: Stop in the
library at any time during the kickoff to
register, pick up your reading logs, activity
challenge cards, and books to start your
summer learning adventure. Also a small
activity for each child to do before they blast
off for the summer. Saturday, June 8, 1-4 p.m.
Little Dippers: Bring your tiniest stars
to this musical program where we will
sing, share stories, and play instruments.

Myrtle Avenue Parklet Playground
Story Time: Join Ms. Heather at the
playground for a special summertime reading
program. We will read stories, play on the
equipment, and have a small art project each
week. Fridays, 11 a.m. to noon. (June 14

Space Scavenger Hunt: Visit the upstairs
part of the library for this special space
scavenger hunt! We will be finding clues in
books, on computers, and around the library
to help us solve a space mystery. Tuesday,
June 18, 6:30 p.m.
Rockets with the Carnegie Science
Center: Explore the forces that work with
and against a rocket. Reach for the stars by
shooting off stomp and Alka Seltzer rockets.
With enough training, you’ll hit your target
every time! This program is limited to 30 so
register early! Tuesday, June 25, 6 p.m.
NASA Night: This special space event
will have us exploring what NASA is, what
astronauts are, and learning more about
Shooting Stars: Shoot across the sky at
this fun storytime designed for preschoolers!
Rhyming fun, pre-reading skills, music, and
crafting will happen during this program.

Beginner Belly Dancing Classes
Join Sourie Iskbah for belly dancing classes!
All ages are welcome. The classes are $15
in advance/$20 at the door. Classes are 11
a.m. to noon the last Saturday of the month.
No experience necessary. Build confidence,
muscle, stamina and knowledge while getting a
full-body workout. Register by phone or at the

Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream: Adult
Summer Reading Kickoff and a night with the
