Farnan said. “I was surprised, and everyone seemed really happy for
me.”
In the end, Farnan chose the Naval Academy, where he will study
nuclear engineering. After graduation, he plans to stay in the Navy
going forward: “I’ve always wanted to serve the country and I’m happy
to have this opportunity.”

s Summer Reading Club 2016
This year’s theme – Ready, Set, Read! – will explore health, fitness,
the Olympics, and movement, and will encourage children and teens
to participate in these activities through books, crafts, games, and many
more special summer activities! Each age group will have a weekly
meeting. Come to one, two, or nine meetings... it’s up to you! Weekly
attendance is not required and you can always bring a friend! Track
your reading to receive fun and exciting prizes!
Little Dribblers: Although your little one may not be able to read
yet, by reading together, young children are learning to recognize
vocabulary and expanding their minds. Join us for weekly story times
to hear stories, rhymes, and songs. Ages Birth to 3. Thursdays, 10:30 –
11 a.m. (June 16 – Aug. 4)
Sprinters: For new readers, pre-kindergarten to 2nd grade, join us for
a weekly Summer Reading Club meeting where we will
read stories, play games, make crafts, and explore the Summer Reading
theme. Thursdays, 3:45-4:30 p.m. (June 16 – Aug. 4)
Hurdlers: For the more experienced readers in 3rd through 5th
grade, join us for a weekly Summer Reading Club meeting, where we
will read stories, play games, make crafts, and explore the Summer
Reading theme. Wednesdays, 3:30 – 4:15 p.m. (June 15 – Aug. 3)
Major Leaguers: For our tweens and teens in 6th through 12th
grade, join us for a weekly Summer Reading Club meeting, where
we will explore books, games, crafts, trivia and more, centered on the
Summer Reading theme. Mondays, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. (June 13 – Aug. 1)
Summer Reading Kick-Off Family Party: Bring your family to the
library to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. We will have a
craft, games, and a snack for those who come to sign up. Friday, June 10,
6-7 p.m.
Cooking Fun: Children, Tweens, and Teens are invited to the library
to learn how to make some delicious snacks and meals. Registration is
required to make sure enough supplies are purchased. Tuesday, June 28,
6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, July 26, 6:30 p.m.
Water Party: It’s hot! Cool off at the library with a Water Party!
Water balloons, water games, water EVERYTHING! If you leave
dry, you’re doing it wrong. Sign-up is required in case of cancellation.
Cancellation notice will occur a half-hour before the party starts.

s Story Times
Songs and Stories: For ages birth to 3, join us each week for a story
or two, as well as lots of music and movement. Each week we will
explore a different instrument and sing a variety of songs to go with our
story. Sign-up is required as instruments are limited. Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.
Pre-K to 2nd Grade Story Time: Children 4-8 years old are welcome
to come get creative with us each week as we explore different story
themes and make a craft that matches the theme. Thursdays, 3:45 p.m.
s School Age/Tween Programs
After School Club: Children 6-12 are encouraged to visit the
downstairs area of the library for free time. Activities may include arts
and crafts, homework help, playing board games, or just hanging out
with friends. Wednesdays, 4-5 p.m.
Makerspace: Makerspace is a program dedicated to the wonderful
world of discovery. In this workshop, you will do only one thing – use
your imagination! We will be exploring how to create, build, and play
with all sorts of fun and zany materials. We hope to see you there! Ages
7-14 (Families are welcome!). Registration is required to make sure
enough supplies are available. Wednesdays, 5:30-6:15 p.m.
s Teen Programs
Teen Spot: For ages 12-18. Stop by the library for a free time for
teens. Activities may include arts and crafts, board games, time on the
Wii, or just hanging out with friends. Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

s Monthly Book Discussion Group
Join the group for some light discussion on the second Monday of
every month at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the library. Registration

s Adult Summer Reading at the Library
This year’s theme is Exercise Your Mind. Reading books and attending
programs will give you a chance to win an Amazon Kindle Fire. The
more books you read and the more programs you attend, the better!
We have exciting programs planned including yoga classes, cooking
healthy class, a painting event, and healthy bingo. The reading program
will run from June 20 - Aug. 5. n
